Patient No. 54. Session 3: Calves and left thigh liposuction with autologous fat grafting breasts and buttocks augmentation

This is the same patient whose first and second sessions of whole body transformation series we previously blogged about: Patient No. 54, Session 1, Result of abdominal liposuction and fat transfer breasts augmentation 7 months later, and Patient No. 54, Session 2: Inner thighs liposuction.

Three years since her first session of liposuction on her abdomen combined with autologous fat grafting breasts augmentation, she now returns to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie, for the third session of her whole body transformation series.

This time round, she requests Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie to perform liposuction on her entire left thigh, except for the inner thigh, because liposuction of her inner thighs have been done 3 years ago. She also wants another calves liposuction. She had gone to Seoul for calves liposuction 9 months earlier and did not see any result! When she returned to Seoul for follow-up, asking why she did not see any difference in the size of her calves after liposuction, she was told that there was no more fat to aspirate, so she had another procedure which destroyed part of the nerves in her calves (neurectomy)! By destroying the nerves, the surgeon aims to paralyze some, but not of all the calves muscles. Just like a person who has stroke and can’t move his arm or leg, the arm or leg will shrink over time because of disuse atrophy. Muscles shrink when it is not used, or if it is paralyzed. However, what many surgeons do not explain to their patients is the implications of this when a person gets old. Older people tend to fall and trip more frequently because of weakened muscles and decreased muscle bulk, let alone people who purposely get their muscles paralyzed by destroying the nerves supplying those muscles permanently. Do patients who undergo this procedure think they can never grow old? Do they think that they will never need their calves muscles to support their bodies? It is amazing what women are willing to sacrifice for vanity! The worse thing is that when Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie assesses her calves, she still has significant thickness of fat which can still be aspirated out with a simple liposuction procedure! Instead of taking out the fat, the surgeon actually went ahead to destroy her nerves in the hope of paralyzing her calves to make them smaller! This reminds us of an American patient who visited Dr Arthur Tjandra for the same problem some time ago. We have published this case on our YouTube channel. It is Case 285. She had 2 sessions of calves liposuction in the United States, but did not see any difference in the size of her calves. When she went to a third surgeon, she was offered a surgery to resect (cut away) her calves muscles! It is an extremely radical approach to slim down a person’s calves! Luckily she used her common sense and declined. She later found out about Dr Arthur Tjandra on the internet and flew all the way from East Coast, changing flights at 4 airports, and spending more than 48 hours in the air, before she finally reached Medan. She was so thankful that she did, because when Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie assessed her calves, he found extremely thick layer of fat in her calves! Instead of taking out the fat, her previous surgeon suggested muscle resection!!!
