This is the same young athlete in her early 20s, which we blogged about previously: Patient No. 425 Session 1. Three months after her first session, she now returns to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie, for a second autologous fat transfer breasts augmentation. During her first session, she had liposuction performed on her calves, inner thighs, and autologous fat injection to her forehead, temples and breasts.

Video 20: Result of inner thighs and calves liposuction, 3 months later.

One has to understand that full recovery after liposuction surgery takes at least 6 months. In large areas, like thighs, it often takes up to a year for one to be able to appreciate the final result. Swelling in thighs and calves also take much longer time to resolve as they are located at the lowest parts of the body, where water retention becomes “gravity-dependent”. Swelling is made worse if patients keep on walking and standing for long period of time. Therefore, one cannot see the final result of liposuction under all swelling has completely resolved, usually around 6 to 12 months.

Video 21: Muscle or fat???

This patient had seen other surgeons prior to coming to see Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie. She was advised by all those surgeons that she was too lean and there was no fat for them to harvest. In fact when this patient told them that she was troubled by her huge thighs, she was advised that they were all muscles! When Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie saw her 3 months ago, he told her that she had lots of fat throughout her entire thighs! Not only could he harvest fat from her thighs for fat injection into her breasts, but the fat in her thighs are sufficient for 4 sessions of fat transfer to her breasts! Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie recommended breaking down her thighs liposuction into 4 separate session, performing liposuction on half thigh each time. But, she preferred to break down her thighs liposuction into just 2 sessions, instead of 4 sessions. This video shows what was initially thought as well-developed quadriceps muscles over her frontal thighs are, as a matter of fact, FAT!! It is an irony that many surgeons who offer liposuction do not know how to differentiate FAT from MUSCLE!
