This Chinese Singaporean woman in her late-20s came to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for revision liposuction after a whole body liposuction disaster done by another surgeon in Singapore. This is one of the worst disasters which Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie has handled. Another patient with similar disaster is Patient No. 399, who had her whole body liposuction done in Frankfurt.
Apparently the previous surgeon had performed liposuction on her with VASER, an ultrasound-assisted liposuction. Ultrasound-assisted liposuction offers promises which sound good theoretically, but may create disaster in the wrong hands, in reality. By melting fat with ultrasound-produced heat, the surgeon’s work is supposed to be made much easier. In the case of syringe liposuction, Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie has to break up the fat manually with his syringe, before aspirating it out, also manually, with a syringe. This is a herculean physical task that not your average surgeon can handle. However, Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie is not your average surgeon-next-door. He is a marathon runner, a duathlete and a martial artist.
In both Patient No. 399 and this patient, as well as many other revision liposuction cases which Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie has published in this Encyclopedia of Liposuction and Fat Grafting Procedures, ultrasound-assisted liposuction produces more harm than good, if put in unskilled hands. Most of the time, it causes ugly adhesions because of the burns it creates underneath the skin with the ultrasound heat it produces. Burns heal with scars. Scars contract. When they contract, they pull the skin down, producing “stuck-down” appearance as what you can see in the videos below, as well as in all the video revision case studies we have published.
First visit: Revision arms liposuction
Second visit (6 weeks later): Revision abdominal liposuction
Third visit (3 months later): Revision calves and ankles liposuction
