This 23-year-old Australian student came to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for revision thighs liposuction 2 years ago, after having had whole body liposuction, which includes her arms, abdomen, thighs and calves, by a plastic surgeon in Melbourne, spending more than AUD 30,000! She was unhappy with the result as she could not see any difference at all after her surgeries. Apparently the previous surgeon performed liposuction only on selected areas on her arms, abdomen and thighs, not 3-dimensional liposuction like what Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie does routinely for his patients, hence leaving behind a lot of fat. She eventually flew from Melbourne to Medan to look for Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for revision thighs liposuction.
Happy with the result of her revision thighs liposuction, she now returns to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for revision calves liposuction. Just like her thighs, she did not see any difference at all after her calves liposuction. She questioned the surgeon who performed her first calves liposuction a year later, and he advised her that she did not have fat in her calves. He told her that her huge calves were the result of well-developed muscles, which means that the only way to slim down her calves are either through calves muscles resection, or neurectomy, a procedure which destroys the nerve which innervates the calves muscles, resulting in shrinking muscles size because of partial paralysis/weakening. Shrinking calves muscles by destroying the nerve to weaken them, or by more drastic measure of cutting away the muscles, is not an ideal solution for athletes or people who play sports. For couch potatoes who do not mind destroying or cutting away their calves muscles for the sake of vanity, doing so may not have serious implication when they are young. However, when they get older, they may regret the decision they made when they were younger.
It is amusing to find surgeons who offer liposuction, who should be able to differentiate fat from muscles, are often unable to do so, and hence give the wrong advice to their patients. Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie has published numerous revision calves liposuction cases like this one, on both his now-defunct YouTube channel, as well as this Vlog, which reveal that so many surgeons all around the world advised their patients that their big calves were due to well-developed muscles, while in reality it was due to thick layer of fat. Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie managed to remove 1 to 3 liters of fat from the calves of each of those patients. In this particular patient from Melbourne, Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie proved her previous surgeon wrong, and removed 1.2 L of fat from her calves and ankles.
She has produced a blog to document her liposuction journey in Medan: Liposuction in Medan.
