Video 3: A young woman with “granny (A-shaped) buttocks” because of thick saddle bags.

Many women cannot see themselves from behind. Many have not taken photographs of themselves from behind. Hence, many women have no idea how their derriere appear. As a matter of fact, many women, no matter how slim and how young they are, have “saddle bags”. Saddle bags are pockets of fat located just at the bottom part of the buttocks, just below the hips. As a result of this, the hips and buttocks are no longer the widest points of the lower body. The “saddle bags” become the widest points, hence making the buttocks appear sagging, the typical “granny butts”. Instead of O-shaped, the buttocks appear A-shaped. Attractive buttocks are the ones with fullness and round over the top and side, not fullness at the bottom. Fullness at the bottom makes the buttocks appear sunken, as this video shows. Once the saddle bags are removed, the buttocks become round and perky again! In this video, one can also see that this patient has pretty thick thighs, especially her knees. Beautiful thighs and knees are ones which taper downwards, forming the shape of an inverted triangle at the knees. However, one can see that although this patient is so slim, her knees actually flare out. Beautiful knees are the ones which narrow down from the thighs and form the junction between the thighs and calves. Naturally, beautiful knees should be the narrowest point. However, many women have knees which are as fat as, or even fatter than their thighs and calves, hence the term “hamburger knees” or “meatball knees”.

Video 4: Why do I have sunken hips and buttocks, Doc?

Because of the bulges of fat above the hips and buttocks (a.k.a. love handles) and at the lower part of the buttocks (a.k.a. saddle bags), many women have the appearance of sunken hips and buttocks, also known as hip dip. By just removing the pockets of fat above and below the hip dip, most of the time the buttocks become round and perky again. In more severe cases where the buttocks are extremely sunken, autologous fat grafting can be used to fill up the buttocks and hip dip.
