This 23-year-old Chinese Singaporean marathon runner came to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for arms liposuction. She had actually seen a plastic surgeon in Singapore for her thick arms. However, the surgeon advised that there was nothing to lipo, as her thick arms were caused by well-developed muscles, not fat. It was not until she watched Dr Tjandra’s video case studies on his YouTube channel a year later, that she realized that her thick round arms could be due to fat. She was absolutely right! When she eventually came to see Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie, he advised her that she had significant thick layer of fat covering not only her entire arms, but also her shoulders, armpits and upper back. In a fit person, the arms should not “flare out” and appear around when viewed from the front, from the back and obliquely (from 45 degree angle). In a fit person, the definition of the muscles should show.
On normal circumstances, if cost was not an issue, Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie would perform liposuction on all interconnected areas of the upper body: arms, shoulders, armpits and upper back. So, when you see arms liposuction case studies, those are actually performed on 4 areas, rather than just arms alone, unless specified otherwise. Due to financial constraint, however, she opted to get only arms and shoulders liposuction done.
