This 50-year-old Chinese Singaporean socialite came to look for Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for revision arms liposuction after having had arms liposuction done in Singapore by another surgeon. She did not like the result at all, as she could hardly see any difference even 1 year after her surgery, when all the swelling has completely subsided and she was supposed to look her best! Compare this with what she looked like immediately after revision arms liposuction by Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie in the videos below. Imagine how good the result would be a year later when all the swelling has subsided completely. But, unfortunately, most patients are ungrateful people. When the results are good, they disappear like a gust of wind. They could have taken some pictures or videos how good their results are, but they would not. They would only contact you again if they had something to complain about.
Anyway, the reason why the result of her first liposuction was unsatisfactory was because her previous surgeon did not perform 3-dimensional liposuction for her. Unfortunately, like most surgeons, her previous surgeon performed liposuction on only a narrow strip at the back of her lower arms, neglecting all other adjacent areas completely. It is also unfortunate that in liposuction, there is no standardized practice at all as in what are the areas liposuction should be performed on. In other specialties and surgeries, you know what you are getting done, regardless of who performs the surgery. For instance, when you get total knee replacement done or cataract surgery, you know exactly what you are getting, regardless of who performs it. In liposuction, unfortunately, this is not the case. For instance, surgeon A performs liposuction on only a narrow strip on the lower back of the arms, and calls that arms liposuction. Surgeon B performs liposuction on the entire circumference and length of the arms, and calls that arms liposuction. Surgeon C, on the other hand, performs liposuction not only on the entire circumference and length of arms, but also on the shoulders, armpits and upper back, and also calls that arms liposuction! Therefore, you see different surgeons performing the same surgery, with starkly different results!
