This 50-year-old Chinese Singaporean professor at a local university, came to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for autologous fat grafting facial rejuvenation, after having had mid-face lift surgery performed by another plastic surgeon, when she was in her mid-40s.

In the old days, the approach to aging face was to perform surgical face lifting. This was an outdated approach which does not address the main issue in an aging face, which is loss of mid-face fat. A surgical face-lift is rarely necessary in someone in his/her middle age, especially in Asians, who tend to have thicker skin and better skin elasticity than Caucasians. The result of such face lift surgery without mid-face volume replacement can be seen in the face of Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden. Their faces appear unnaturally tight, yet lack mid-face volume. Their faces appear “skeletonized”!

Take a look at 2 photographs of Nancy Pelosi, taken in August 2020, below. Please note how wasted her face is, with obvious loss of mid-face volume. However, instead of volume replacement, her surgeon focused on just tightening her face, hence creating very unnatural “pulled” effect on her face.

Nancy Pelosi’s eyes also appear extremely sunken and “skeletonized” which can be easily addressed with fat injection into the eye lids, as shown below:

By comparing Nancy Pelosi’s photographs above, with a photograph of her in her youth below, it is very obvious that what makes a person appear youthful is full cheeks/mid-face. She loses all her mid-face volume as she ages. Hence, instead of pulling up her face to make the face appear tight, the priority should be to replace the volume loss first!

Now. let’s take a look at Joe Biden’s most recent photographs after his surgical mid-face and neck lift surgeries below.

This was what Joe Biden looked like after his mid-face lift, but before his neck lift surgery. His mid-face appeared pulled and tight, but his mid-face was completely sunken in. Take note of how the mid-face skin is all pulled up towards his ears.

This is what Joe Biden looks like now, after mid-face and neck lift surgeries. Notice how his face appears unnaturally tight, and he appears like “Joker” when he smiles?

Overall, his face appears tight, pulled and “skeletonized”.

Unlike Nancy Pelosi who can hide her surgical face lift incision scars with her hair, Joe Biden’s face lift incision scar is very obvious, located just in front of his ear, with his mid- and lower-face skin all being pulled up towards his ears. His face appears unnaturally tight and pulled, a tell tale sign of surgical face lift.

After looking at the results of facial rejuvenation of 2 of American most powerful politicians above, most likely performed by top and very expensive plastic surgeons, let’s take a look at the result of facial rejuvenation with different approach performed by Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie on this 50-year-old Chinese Singaporean professor. Unlike American surgeons who prioritize “tightening”, Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie emphasizes more on volume replacement.
