This Chinese Singaporean insurance agent in her late-20s had VASER liposuction in Singapore which ended up with complications of waviness caused by adhesions, before coming to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for revision liposuction.
The selling point of VASER, which uses ultrasound heat to melt fat before aspirating the fat out, is that it makes life easier for the surgeon, and it helps to tighten the skin after liposuction because of the heat. However, instead of tightening and smoothing the skin out, what we often see is complication of adhesion scar tissues which cause the skin to be stuck down as shown in the videos below. As the heat from ultrasound-assisted liposuction is applied directly underneath the skin, with the hope of tightening the skin, the heat actually causes burns underneath the skin. Sometimes, the heat may even burn through the skin, resulting in a hole through the skin! When burns heal, they heal with scar tissues formation. As the scar tissues pull the skin down, the surface of the skin becomes wavy and appears “stuck down”.
This is the most common disaster with ultrasound-assisted liposuction! Another case study with excellent videos which show this kind of disaster is the case study of Patient No. 399, who had her whole body liposuction done in Germany, before coming to Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie for revision liposuction.
