Just as Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie plans to close down his clinic in December 2021, because it does not seem that Indonesia will be re-opening its borders to foreign nationals any time soon, our 5th local Indonesian patient turned up on our doorstep! As a result of this, we will be putting our clinic closure on hold first. Believe it or not, although our clinic has been operating since 2008, we have been catering almost exclusively to clienteles of foreign nationalities. In the last 13 years, we have had only 4 or 5 local patients from Indonesia! Why is that so? The first reason is Indonesia is a poor country where the working class earns less than IDR 1 million (less than USD 100) a month. The second reason is that changing what God has given you through cosmetic surgeries is considered a sin (haram). Our clinic has been raided by religious leaders for the second reason in the past, hence the need to post warning sign as the one shown above, throughout our website and blog.
This Chinese Indonesian socialite from Surabaya in her mid-30s, who frequently graced Indonesia Tatler, was a fashion model more than a decade ago. Currently married to a Surabayan tycoon with 5 children, she completely lost her once-prized figure. Even though she spends 2 hours in the gym working out with a personal trainer every day, she seems unable to get rid of her stubborn fat. She has spent a fortune on various non-surgical treatments in Surabaya, before finally deciding to take the plunge to fly to Medan. No Surabayans or Jakartans with the right mind would ever think of flying to Medan, which they consider a small village, for surgery. Just like no Americans, Canadians, British, French, Germans, Russians, Ukrainians, Italians, Middle Eastern, Africans, Indians, mainland Chinese, Hong Kongers, Taiwanese, Singaporeans, Malaysians, Australians and New Zealanders with the right mind would ever think of going to Medan for liposuction and/or fat grafting procedures………….until they did! Those were the actual foreign nationals who decided to take the plunge to visit us during the last 13 years, many of whom came for revision surgeries, after unsatisfactory primary surgeries in their own countries!
This socialite plans to get whole body liposuction, targeting her arms/upper body during this first session. Due to her significant rectus diastasis and abdominal skin laxity, Dr Arthur Tjandra of Elixir de Vie advised her to get an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) along with abdominal muscle repair, before getting 3D liposuction done on her torso.
